It is easier to pick eggs off of mops than to keep pulling plants out of  the 
water. Its hard on the plants.  
Also, the mops can be cleaned and disinfected (de-egged) between species to  
avoid mixing species or locations.  My mops tend to accumulate black worms  
that like to crawl up into the knots. I can just put them into the sink and hose 
 them down with a sprayer ( not the kitchen sink of course, but one in  my 
garage).
