Re: [Killietalk] Eggs from thailand

Hi Tom (in the cage), While I too would refrain from posting the name of a
seller whom I've had poor experience with, especially since this may not be seen
as ethical (as has been pointed out in this thread by others), would it not
be considered as aiding and abetting such a deceiving practice to hold back a
seller's identification if it can be established the seller (such as this
person in Thailand) has a practice of shipping out empty peat deliberately? Again,
its noted that a lot of things may happen to eggs in peat when shipping long
distances, but if if it can be maintained that a pattern of close to 100
hobbyists have been so deceived, there is more than enough room for suspect, and
while "suspect" alone is not enough to prove anything disclosing such a person's
name as being suspect is not being dishonest. If that suspect then wanted to
clear his name of that, he would then have the opportunity to do so, even if
were not stated that he actually had malicious intents.

As for my part, I had purchase live fish (3 pairs) through the F&E, with the
receipt of one pair DOA, one pair with a male in poor condition (expired
within 12 hours) and one pair with a male in slighly better condition, but with a
bent spine (giving the benefit of the doubt to the shipper that perhaps this
was overlooked); this male expired after about 16 hours, leaving me with 2
females only of which one was in poor health -- most probably due to too cool water
as received. Knowing this was just an unfortunate happenstance occurring
while in transit, situations such as this should never be broadcast as though the
shipper fully intended to ship out poor fish, but when not standing behind
the guarantee offered by the AKA, an uneducated member (such as I was up until
now) might be led to believe he had no recourse when denied such by the
seller.alone who made it appear as if he were the final authority. So, even though a
measure of protection was stated in your post, when buying through the F&E,
an otherwise uninformed buyer would not appreciate any safety in this under
these circumstances. Too, there's the possibility in this equation that the
seller misjudged the weather in the section of the country he was sending to
and/or did not use a sufficiently long heat pack (if he did use one at all). Ray W.
