What exactly makes water changes necessary? I've assumed it is the
buildup of hormones/wastes excreted by the fish. In that case plant
purification should cut it. Consider that in the wild plants purify
the water and some new water is added via rainfall. So I agree that a
solar distiller could distill some water for reuse mixed with the
plant treated water.
