Re: [Killietalk] Dissing Daphnia ?

I am constantly amazed at what certain killies will eat that others won't
touch. I have a couple of tanks of Ep. annulatus that only look at grindal
worms, but go wild if I add daphnia. On the other hand, I have a tank of A.
ogoense ottogartneri in which the fish don't even look at daphnia. In fact the
daphnia are multiplying in the tank. I closed down my outdoor daphnia tank
weeks ago, but the otto tank is still producing. What is even more strange is
that the otto tank is on a recirculating system. I have tried to raise
daphnia alone in tanks on the system and they never lasted more than a week; but,
daphnia in the otto tank seem to thrive.
Go figure. The nutrient loads should be about the same since it is all the
same water.
