Re: [Killietalk] Egg Incubation... Peat vs Water

Going back to one of my original questions... can I switch to water
incubation once they've been sitting in peat for some time? My plan
would be to let them sit in peat for a few days until I remove all
fungused eggs... then let them finish the process in water.

The peat was soaked to the point that if you held it upside down no water would run off unless you pressed on it.? I would place the eggs on the surface and cover.? The incubation time was not specifcally longer, usually two weeks as in water?but the main advantage was you could generally get all the eggs to hatch at the same time.? They were placed in a container of water and usually hatched without any additional forcing.? The beauty was that if an eggs was infertile or died it could be easily removed before the fungus could affect any of the other eggs.
