[Killietalk] quiet here too. What do you feed your fruit flies?
I've been using a mix from Eed's fly meat, works great, but I've also tried a formula off the net, and the home-made stuff gets moldy really fast.
Seems like the collective Net.Wisdom is an anti-molding agent.
Any suggestions? One site recommended vinegar, which I am planning to try next. Another, Methylparaben, but that's not something that I think I can find in my local grocery.
How important is sugar to fruit fly media? I simply mixed up a batch using the cheapest potato flakes I could find, yeast, and Sure-Jell, and got mold. Bah. I'm wondering if I add sugar (another formula added powdered milk) and mixed it all up with vinegar whether the yeast would outcompete the mold , which I think is what is not happening.
