Re: [Killietalk] How can I make a simple incubator for eggs?
I have a similar problem (cold fishroom)...
I use a cheapo seeding heat mat placed in one of those larger plastic
drawer/organizer things...I place a layer of dry gravel on top of it, and
thence goes the peat or Petri dishes...temp is monitored with a digital
thermometer

Subject: [Killietalk] How can I make a simple incubator for eggs?
Since my apartment is difficult to keep at an even temperature, and
especially now that it is getting cold out, I was wondering how I could
construct a simple incubator for the eggs from my N. rachovii, Simp.
reticulatus, Fp. fallax/kribianus, and (not too long, hopefully) Nem.
whitei.
So, what is a simple way to make an incubator for eggs? Is there a good
common temperature range for these types of fish eggs as well?
The materials I have on hand are a bunch of various-sized foam
containers such as those used to ship small fish, and an inexpensive
foam "cooler" from a convenience store. I have some smaller
aquarium-type heaters that have no temp control, like the little ~7W
type from WalMart, or the mini ones from Drs Foster Smith
(http://tinyurl.com/38v8y6).
Unfortunately I do not have a lot of leeway in time or extra eggs to
experiment with, and I'm unsure what the parameters should be as well.
Can anyone give me some tips and/or hints?
