Hi Marge,
Thought we might be "meeting" here soon.
You may not need an RO filter, a device that produces nearly pure water by forcing it under pressure, through a membrane(molecular sieve) thus removing dissolved charged molecules like Ca++ or Mg++.
Post your pH and hardness test results and species of killies you have. Many will do fine in tap water, especially those often recommended as "starter" species.
Most of these devices can be temporarily hooked up to a faucet and left on the counter, in your way. Otherwise they are hooked up directly to a cold water pipe and a water storage system. The pH and mineral content of RO water can be adjusted to whatever is desired or needed for the types of fish you are raising.
