Re: [Killietalk] xanthism

Sports of different coloration than the normal are not unusual in many
species of killies. A prime example is the "gold" Aphyosemion australe. At
one time it was ID'd as a separate species and called A. australe
Hjerreseni. It is now recognized as the same fish as the normal A. australe
and simply xanthochromic. With line breeding there are now a number of
populations of "gold" australe and some no longer have any red spots. Still,
they are still the same single species and remain my favorite killifish
species . Have fun with our fish.
