Actually, it is not uncommon for individuals of the Epiplatys fasciolatus
group to sport gold bodies until young adulthood, but they do not retain the
coloration thereafter. I've seen this a number of times over the 30+ years
I've been keeping species in this group, especially among Ep. lamottei and
fasciolatus fasciolatus.
