Re: [Killietalk] Killietalk Digest, Vol 52, mini-cyst brine shrimps questions

...pardon me...I typed that last reply too fast and on the re-read, it
sounded confusing to me...

Short version: I don't know what species of killifish fry would be born at
just the right size to eat mini-bbs, but none that I have are: either they
can eat normal bbs, or they have to be fed vinegar eels/green-water...I
personally have no "in-between" sized fry...
I tried feeding the mini-bbs to some pterolebias and wound up starving
most...I'd buy the min-bbs again, but no way would I skip feeding smaller
foods for the 1st 2-3 days...
I guess if you can live with the 80% hatch rate, perhaps the mini-bbs would
make a good substitute vs. GSL BBS

I tried to find mention of the mini-cysts in the KT Archives, the smaller
brine shrimp sold by Jehmco, but failed to find anything. So, I wanted to
ask of those who have tried them, what they thought about them.

>From what I can tell from the product info and reg brine shrimp the 450
micron nauplii is about the same as that of a Utah nauplii.
I have a four ounce can coming so I'll find out for myself in about a week.
I use commercial 2 liter cones, vigorous aeration, light, reef salt and
about 80F/~37 C temperature. I typically get very good hatches in 20-24
hours.
