Melanogaster is not just for Drosophila (fruit flies). In July, 2005 A. melanogaster was described. Unfortunately, I can find very littel info on the fish, other than what little I can get of killie-data, that the fish was formerly: "Aphyosemion sp. N° 7 - Epomé, Nko olong, Natondeur-Nagadjo, East Elon, Nkolbonda, Pongo". I want to say I think it's a chromaphyosemion, because it was described at the same time as A.punctulatum, which I believe is a chrom.
This site: http://filaman.ifm-geomar.de/Nomenclature/NominalSpeciesList.cfm?family=Aplocheilidae lists both of the above mentioned species as chromaphyosemions. This would be class 10 at the convention.

The answer will depend on whether you are referring historically to past
Conventions or the future. They are under revision by the Judging Committee, in
order to bring them in line with the recent determination of relation of species
in the genus. I believe this would be the specific answer for the new
categories.
bualanum, is now called elberti and will be in Class 12
epoma is a location of an elegans type and will be in Class 12
melanogaster is a fruit fly. not usually entered except as food
