This old curmudgeon thinks that light and plants are secondary to water
changes. I think both will contribute, but water changes daily or semi-continuously
are the best way to "flush the toilet", so to speak. Would you try to dispose
of your human waste by converting it on site to plant growth? Sure you can do
it, but those human populations that still do it are considered disease
prone. Read my article in JAKA December 2004.
