Re: [Killietalk] NEW

To clear up any misconceptions - UNYKA (Upstate New York Killifish
Association) is a central New York organization with the vast majority of
its meetings held in Berlin, Hamilton and the Utica area of Central New York
as well as in Albany for NorthEast Weekend. The Chairman is Dr. Dan
Nielsen. Tom Grady is the secretary/treasurer. It does meet once a year in
Northern New York for those members who travel long distances to the Central
NY meetings and also to share a meeting with KilliQuebec. UNYKA was founded
in the early 1990s by Jeff Bilbrough and Carl Petersen in the
Syracuse/Central NY region - Carl is still an active member, but Jeff passed
away in 1999. The core group has remained essentially the same since its
inception with members from northern New York, Albany, Newburgh, Berlin,
Hamilton, Utica, northern Pennsylvania and Rochester NY and everywhere in
between.

UNYKA will be hosting the 2008 AKA National Convention in Syracuse NY.

I suspect there is some confusion over the difference between Rochester
Killifish Assc. (which is now defunct) and UNYKA in this thread. While some
members of UNYKA were members of Rochester - the two groups are definitely
separate.

UNYKA's next meeting is planned for Saturday, Nov. 10th.

Tom Grady (who does not live in Tupper Lake - but 60 miles north of there.)
