Re: [Killietalk] peat incubatio
You can try any gardneri over peat. Typical incubation would be 75
degrees for 4-6 weeks. Check the eggs at 4 weeks, if they aren't
ready check them at 5 and then 6 weeks.
What works for one person won't always work for another. I got my
best hatches from Misaje when spawned over peat and incubated like an
annual for 4 weeks. I would usually get between 30 and 100 fry per
hatch. My biggest hatch when picking eggs was 20, and that was from a
batch of 160 eggs. Using a 2.5 gal tank or a shoebox with a peat
layer on the bottom would probably work best. Seperate the sexes into
their own tanks and place in the peat lined tank for breeding. Don't
feed while in that tank. Personally I'm too lazy for that and set up
a group in a ten gal and place a peat dish in the tank for 1-2 weeks.
Peat dish needs to be wide and shallow so they use it.
