I do know how they require the fish to be packed. It is mainly an issue of being able to help them find the regulations themselves that support my right to ship if in compliance with the packing requirements.

Larry,
I have made up a label that I place on all my USPS shippers, I have yet
to have a problem shipping anywhere in the US with this label. It simply
states "PERISHABLE"
PROTECT FROM EXTREME HEAT OR COLD, POSTMASTER: This package may be
opened for inspection. Please inspect indoors to avoid sudden
temperate changes.
Packaged in accordance with U.S. Postal Regulations: 525.5-7, 526.6 &
601.2.4 THANK YOU!!! Sometime I also add a LIVE TROPICAL FISH sticker or
two. Hope this helps.
I am still ruminating on the fact that we as a well established United
States organization we could and do have the right to petition the USPS
Postal Service and its contracted shipping cohorts to amend and or to
clarify its position on this forever occurring situation. Most of us
don't have a problem with shipping fish but, many of the USPS
substations are under the assumption that it is illegal to ship live
fish. Most of the problems stem from the contracted shippers. I believe
that with a formal presentation-introduction to exactly how carefully
and conscientiously we pack our fish, i.e. breather bags, (for smaller
amounts of liquids), leak proof and taped styro containers, (for
temperature control as well as water retention) and filling the voids
with enough water absorbent material to absorb what may leak out, they
may loosen their grip a bit. This could easily be done by us the AKA, in
a simply produced training video or booklet, made available to teach new
members etc., how to properly pack and ship our fish, with copies going
to these shipping magnates we rely so heavily upon. Just a thought,
please no flames!
