The I-TTL-System of Nikon (used for the D70 and all later digital SLR) is a little bit tricky, and does not work with every fish... use a system with fires the flash two times in very short time, using

It's really amazing how many different ways there are to accomplish the same task in photography. I find that the new ITTL system is the greatest innovation in flash photography for photographing fish, since the photographer has absolute control over every aspect of the image. I use I TTL constantly for fish pictures and have added more than one remote flash in some cases.

Lampeyes and Procatopus are some of the more difficult species to photograph because of their speed, and the unique reflective color of their bodies................. with ITTL I find I have the most luck ................ experimentation and time are the ingredients, but at least it is easy enough to delete an image at no cost............... not quite like the costs involved with slides ...........

I am attaching an example of off the flash ITTL .............. it does work, but the usual caveat applies, experiment and do what you are successful with................
