Re: [Killietalk] Digital Camera Recommendations

Hello,
autofokus is not a great help in this case. Taking fishpictures, I switch it
off.
The I-TTL-System of Nikon (used for the D70 and all later digital SLR) is a
little bit tricky, and does not work with every fish...
First I had to learn, that you cannot use your old Nikon-flash,not even in
manual mode!
They use a system with fires the flash two times in very short time, using
the first for mesuring and the second for the picture. Fast reacting fishes
escape in this time lap! I was not able to take any good picture from
Procatopus (they allways turn around) until I set the flash in manuel mode.
The second problem caused by the i-TTL-System: You can not fire a simple
slave-flash, they usually not work with a double flash.
Another Problem of the "fantastic" i-TTL: Most people, you try to get
portraits from, close theis eyes between the two lights, especially jounger
ones. (the reaction gets slower, so my eyes stay open, my sons are allways
closed...)
That means, I take 80% of all picturs with flash in the manuel mode. The
flash of my Olympus OM2 from 1976 worked much better for fish fotos.
To avoid misunderstandings: I like my D70, but the flash System is not good.
