Re: [Killietalk] Thiosulfate de-chloroamine
Ken
Ammonia is used by alot of places to help with drinking water. What is
not harmful to humans in many places is extremely harmful to our fish.
In the Fall and Spring during heavy run offs in out area due to weather,
our water supply has added chlorine and ammonia to help kill anything
harmful bacteria wise to us. It really can mess up a tank of fish if
you do large water changes with out checking your tap water first.
Ive seen tank fulls of fish gasping after large water changes in those
time periods and have had a few major loses before i figured out what
was going on. Now i check my tap water in the fall and spring before
doing large water changes.. Just to be safe!!
