Golly ghee Ed, whadda we do, send it in all pickled up to a bespeckled
ichthyologist, and have him count fins & whatnot? NTM neither I or Karl
played scrabble and made up our own names; heck both fish still have
question marks attached to them. I don't see any suggestion that we were
gonna actually settle on a name after all the votes were in...
And Gheez, riggenbachi? Blue Chromeaphyosemion? Ain't that likewise an
attempt at a fish ID via web?

Very interesting...attempting to pass correct identification upon a killie
based on a e\-photo sent over killietalk.
Let's see here, how many opinions and ID's do we have suggested??/ Someone
sent a photo of a riggenbachi and called it who knows what (not rig).
Another sent a photo of a blue biv and thought it was the same!!!! (color
blindness at old age???)
Fish ID via killietalk is fun by way of a quiz (killie-jeopardy.....I'll
take elberti for $12000 Alex), but to put a name on a fish this way and
auction it is unacceptable. You're all guessing and I wouldn't want to be
the buyer and pay good money for a fish with a "maybe" identity.
If you've lost the ID (his pedigree) then label it that way. "unknown biv".
Guessing at names is just going to mess up the AKA and any future buyers of
progeny.

There are two points I would like to make, the first is the fish I
believe is Aphyosemion poliaki........... I will attach a small image of a
similar fish to compare. The issue of A. poliaki and A. volcanum is
currently in question. There is a very good possibility that they are the
same species, in which case A. volcanum is the senior name.
Second, the genus is Aphyosemion........... as designated by
KMI, and supported by the latest review of the genus in JAKA by Glen
Collier. Some sites and authors are using Chromaphyosemion as a genus and
that is their prerogative; however the AKA does not. I suggest a review
of Collier's material, the latest piece in JAKA by Stefano, and Huber's
site.............
