Re: [Killietalk] fish ID
The website I cited clearly uses the term "Chromaphyosemion" as a subgenus.
It is a very nice site put together by some very knowledgeable people, and I
would recommend it highly to anyone interested in these fish.
I believe that we are also all in agreement that until the poliaki,
volcanum, splendepleur "Tiko Green" things are all cleared up, poliaki is
poliaki.
I am also in agreement with you that you attached a small picture. My eyes
can discern that it is indeed a fish and not a mammal. Not much beyond that
;-)

There are two points I would like to make, the first is the fish I
believe is Aphyosemion poliaki........... I will attach a small image of a
similar fish to compare. The issue of A. poliaki and A. volcanum is
currently in question. There is a very good possibility that they are the
same species, in which case A. volcanum is the senior name.
Second, the genus is Aphyosemion........... as designated by
KMI, and supported by the latest review of the genus in JAKA by Glen
Collier. Some sites and authors are using Chromaphyosemion as a genus and
that is their prerogative; however the AKA does not. I suggest a review
of Collier's material, the latest piece in JAKA by Stefano, and Huber's
site.............
