Have you checked your water source for any of the following; hydrogen 
sulfide, ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. Any of these could be present if 
there are livestock confinment facilaties in you area.Also in some areas 
well water can become super saturated with gases,usually nitrogen. The last 
one is not common and is usually seasonal.

Not much, I know but maybe it well give you some other ideas.
