Re: [Killietalk] Killietalk Digest, Vol 48, Cyclop-eeze

The methods of using and preferred forms of Cyclop-eeze has been discussed but I will add my two cents, repeating the much of the good advice previously given.
1. FD Cyclop-eeze works best when it is presoaked and shaken in a pill bottle then feed via eyedropper. I ofen add a few drops of VitaChem and allow it to soak stored in the refridgerator when making up a few day's worth. Adding live Artemia nauplii does help with getting the fry to accept it.
Other fry like those of Tetras and Cyprinids accept it better than most killifish fry.
2. Frozen form is definitely the best although unless you are fortunate to be able to get small portions from your local fish store one can only buy it in a large frozen block of ~one kilo. It is a lot of food so unless you can find a friend to share the purchase it can mean that eventually you are using pretty old food but this is definitely the way to go.
3. I use the FD form as an additive to my discus beefheat blend. It seems like a good way to me to enhance the overall nutritive value.
All those carotenoids and HUFGA's are good supplements and I trust they help bring out brighter reds in my fish. I add about four table spoons of the FD to every kilo of blend.
4. The FD form is useful to have on hand when caught without a ready supply of live microfoods. It helps buy a day or two until the brine shrimp production line has been reestablished.
5. I am also using it as an additive to the earthworm stick mush I am feeding Sturisoma aureum, "Royal Whiptail Catfish" fry. I feed them the food from 250 micron filtermedia bags. They are able to extract the food on a continuous basis, through the mesh. I replace all feed bags with fresh food every day.
