Re: [Killietalk] Killietalk] Summer Nature Reading Suggestions

Good one, Lee. I didn't think about this one. BTW, Dupla is owned by Red Sea now. The last I heard from my distributor, all the dupla stuff was on clearance. I think they're going to be marketing some of the products under the Red Sea name.

  Hey Guys,

I really suggest "the Optimum aquarium" by Kasper Horst and Horst kipper.

This book is/was a great advertisement for Dupla (they started dupla as I
recall). However the principals are there and it is one of the most
informative reads I have done.

The English addition is long out of print but, if you ever find it, SNAG it.

Dupla no longer has the market cornered on advanced aquarium systems. So
you can certainly use their descriptions to develop your own models. In
1987 ish it was revolutionary. Today they are still trying to catch up with
what they did 20 years ago.

Water chemistry, Plants, studies on Asian streams biotopes. Heck there are
even photos of killies in there as I recall. I think salted dried Apl.
Panchax.

I will emphasize that its primary directive is in developing aquatic
ecosystems. (The optimum planted aquarium-Dutch aquarium) However there is
a LOT to learn in this book. It certainly is a thought provoking work.

Once you get thinking. Who knows how you can adapt it to Killies. I
certainly have! Especially in Black water killies.

God Bless, Lee Van Hyfte <><
