The only thing I ever found that would cut silicone residue is a product called Goof Off. It has a terrible odor and is made with methanol and xylene and other carcinogenes. Wicked stuff use rubber gloves. Like it has been said before usually you can remove most of the silicone with a single edged razor blade. The newer the better. You can buy 100 of em in a pack at Ace Hardware for like $8.00. I use them for dicing up earthworms and other chores around the fishroom.
