Re: [Killietalk] Snails and hydra
Pearl gouramis are a fish that will eat hydra. I have used them in a tank to get rid of hydra. Just remove the adult fis, you might loose some of the eggs or babies (unless you caan remove them without taking any hydra with them). Let the gourami do it's job and then you can take the gourami out and put your other fish back in to breed in the tank.

Personally I like the tearing up sheets of paper
into small pieces and scattering them around on
the floor under the tanks. That works for keeping
Elephants away from the fishroom 2. I have been
doing it since 1978 and there have been no
Elephants here since then.
"The use of running a 9 volt current through your
aquarium to kill Hydra is just one of the many
bizarre methods aquarists have advanced in their
age old war with these animals. Suffice it to say
it does not work. The Hydra will retrack when
shocked but it would take more current than 9
volts to kill these beasts. I would venture to
say they would survive 115 volts for hours. Maybe
not if the salinity was raised to that of
seawater but then again, Hydra would simply die
in full strength sea water without the
electricity. The Hydra live up to their
mythological monster name sake. A traditionally
notorious beast to destroy. "
Copper, Formaldehyde, Salt(up to a point) and
most other "cures" just don't kill the pest.
Fluke Tabs medication and Flubendazole do. You
can eliminate the pests completely without
harming the bacteria plants or fry.
If you need Flubendazole, let me know of list. I
have it for distribution. I have Fluke Tabs also
as well as Levamisole and several other Fishroom
chemicals, off the list please.
