Re: [Killietalk] Tank cleaning

I'm about to clean about 18 10gals in a few minutes myself as a matter of
fact...
...don't clean the glass that often since bumping up the lighting and
cramming them w/hornwort; tanks still gets algae eventually, but not as much
or as often...NTM H2O changes are not a "weekly emergency" anymore...

When I do clean; I usually do 1 of 2 things:
-if the tank is pretty funky, I'll drain off half, empty the fish & plants
in a 5gal bucket(s), then squeeze the sponge out in-tank...I then
"power-head" out that filthy water, Clorox the whole deal (minus the sponge
filter), rinse the tank, add de-chlor and re-empty the bucket back in...I
then fill the remainder w/de-chlorinated temp adj. tap

-if the tank is just 1-2weeks between H2O changes, then I'll just go down
the row(s) with this power-head deal I made out of PVC and a FTP-to-Hose
adapter...a 50ft section of garden hose goes right to the drain...about 2-3
tanks behind is the "fill up hose"...I drop in the de-chlor, salt and/or
fertilizers 1st, then run the tap...needless to say; overfills and accidents
happen (like siphoning out the last congicum fry I had)

Subject: [Killietalk] Tank cleaning

As usual on a saturday I spent a couple of hours taking down a couple of 10
gallon tanks and cleaning them up. My tanks have no gravel in them, only
plain bottom with some snails and java moss. Water changes are usual made
once every couple of weeks in these tanks. Even so after a while the glass
begins to get a lot of algea on it and does not look too good, so when a
tank gets like this I drain it down, take it to the stationary tub and scrub
it down, rinse it well and then set it back up. I was just wondering if
everyone else follows a similar routine or am I a little freaky with this?
