Re: [Killietalk] Aphyosemion species Bitter

Hmmm,
I just checked that link and the fish I got look nothing like that...
The fish I have as A.bitteri has loads of blue and broken red, NTM is a bit
more "robust"/shortened looking...

I just checked my spreadsheet and seems the orig. seller was %%%%Gordy%%%
%%%%Zahn&&&&&...(hope he doesn't mind me dropping the name, characters Added
as anti-spam))...
If someone knows &&&&Mr.Zahn^^^, perhaps he can add some info

Hi Ron,
I had this fish a year and a half or so ago, and I can tell you a bit:
  A. sp. Bitteri is supposedly really escherichi. You can find them on Tim
Addis's west african killie site:
http://www.killifish.f9.co.uk/Killifish/Killifish%20Website/Ref_Library/Aphy
osemion/A.escherichi.htm
Supposedly in striatum group, but last JAKA put it as a close relative of
joergenscheeli, so I really don't know much about their temp requirements,
but I would go room temp. Not as cool as joergenscheeli, but cooler than I
kept striatum.
My female had some issues when I got her, and never did well until she
died a few weeks later. Gary Greenwood had the original fish in the states
and did well with it until all his encountered some genetic defect and his
were all lost. Greg Schoenberg had the same thing, and I had thought that
it had disappeared from the hobby. Good to know it's still out there.
This is all assuming, of course, that your A. sp bitteri is the real sp.
bitteri. Jim Gasior got a fish that he was told was sp. bitteri and was
later IDed as a mirabile or something like that.
  Hope that helps,
  Gary
