Re: [Killietalk] response

Go ahead Mike,

This isn't a challenge; it's a discourse...
Your brain is processing things one way, mine is processing it another...
I'm thinking the difference: is from our separate differences in
exposure/experience, not actual intelligence per se

I for one am interested in how you have weighed the pro/cons of the matter
(that's sincere)...That's all...it's not always an automatic argument
(BTW, where is Rob when you need him? <LOL>)

And I said "simultaneous", not forced

Do what you wish, but what are our collective goals? Whenever you weigh in
on a matter, the goal is the primary factor, you can always argue "means to
an end"...
But since morality is not as issue here, I still can't see all this harm in
electronic auctions...

I still maintain if our primary goals are
-Growth of the Club & hobby
-species survival, maintenance & distribution
-funds to accomplish goals 1 & 2

How does an electronic venue degrade/harm/challenge that?
I'm not stupid, just help us/me out here (you may not win/convince me, but
I'm smart enough to listen and try and figure out your neural wiring) ...

Ken

"What harm could it do to simultaneously post the F&EL on Aquabid?

Shamelessly provide a hefty discount for club members (and/or new club

membership dues) and see what happens...

KC"

. . . because you would automatically FORCE the individual lister in the
F&EL to run his listing in the fashion of AQUABID . . . if he wanted to do
that he would GO THERE! You are forcing the individual lister to verify a
member from non-member and deal in cash rebates . . . discounts . . . or
move their prices up to account for the discounts for AKA members. You
FORCE the AKA to rely that all of the F&EL would uphold the policies of
AQUABID meaning the ratings of buyers and not to mention the rating of the
AKA by possible mistakes by AKA members. You would FORCE the individual to
deal with auctions as opposed to dealing with a sales list . . . there is a
difference.

. . . I was going to go on and on with the Aquabid thing and I will if you
challenge me but I think you probably get the point.

There are many problems that are being encountered between the new "electron
generation" and the older "other" generation . . . not the least it that the
"electron generation" is so use to instant everything that they REALLY think
that ANY club they join is suppose to jump and do EVERYTHING they can
possibly think of! I mean they are serious! The "electron generation"
really feels empowered to change anything at any time and the knowledge of
the "other" generation is totally irrelevant . . . the only people who
matter is themselves . . . the "electron generation". Make no mistake, they
THINK they are correct. They think they have the answer to everything but
sometimes they fail to understand they are sometimes asking to participate
and change a club that is older than they are. There is no other club out
there that they could join to change there is only one . . . why is there
only one?????????? Because that club is operating efficiently and within
the state of satisfying MOST of the members of that club. If that ominous
MOST is say 80-90% then someone has to give me just ONE SOLID REASON why the
80-90% ought to JUMP when a person that paid his dues 3 months ago wants to
un-elect the BOD and change the bulletin change the F&EL and change the
election method and change the purpose of the club and change all the work
that a great number of very responsible and adult members have volunteered
their time to do what they have worked on for years . . . some of them for
last 15-20 years . . . PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT IN A REASONABLE TONE TO ME! I
know all of the arguments you are going to say . . . I have listened to the
generic "YOU" for 10 years on this forum . . . yes I said 10 years on this
forum and I have almost never seen anyone of the bitchers (changers) step up
and volunteer to DO WHAT it is they suggest . . . you know that requires you
stand up and get elected to the BOD or president or something!!!!!!! You
can't really just expect the ENTIRE CLUB to JUMP just because someone from
Tim-Buck-Too say we ought to change . . . Ba-da-bing . . . you "electron
generation" do understand that most of the time you folks have conflicting
ideas as to how "things" are to be done . . . where does that leave the
club. Well, we could have a rule for the east of the Mississippi and one
rule for the West of the Mississippi . . . you know about those guys on the
West coast anyway don't you . . . :-)!

There is a reason the AKA has lasted since 1962 (did I get that date
right?). It has lasted because it never moves to quickly . . . like your
grandfather . . . the one that told you to slow down least you make some
silly mistakes! You are dealing with some very intelligent adults here, not
your sons or daughters who must respond to your every whim. If you have a
proposal then use the system that is in place and write up a proposal and
send it through the proper channels. Drum up support for your proposal on
Killitalk but don't demand and castigate people. Let the ELECTED people
deal with your proposal and vote their consciences and there you go. If
your bill does not pass then you have 4 options . . . 1) re-submit and drum
up more support the second time 2) run for office and get elected and then
propose you idea again 3) realize that the majority of 700-800 people
(the AKA???) don't like your idea and therefore you lose 4) quit and start
your own club. I know . . . I keeping potential members from joining the
AKA . . . hogwash . . . just talk to me don't order me.

I know . . . the "electron generation" calls that the stupidity of the
"older" ones and they have all of the little sayings we have all heard for
the last 10 years . . . like "we are trying to bring the club into the next
generation" . . . that they think "saying" validates what the "electron
generation" thinks our club ought to be (I am sure I am totally open for
"FLAMES" now) but I am really curious why all of these "electron generation"
folks want in the of AKA . . . they don't like anything we do and EXPECT us
to JUMP at EVERYTHING in 2 seconds!

I will listen to any one, people who know me really do know that but don't
expect me or the clubs to jump. I will consider and talk but never jump.
Look below folks . . . I am in 3 aquarium clubs and not even listed is the
AKA . . . do you think I haven't heard the "electron generation" come and
want to change every one of those clubs. All of those clubs, Tampa Bay
Aquarium Society (17-18 years), Coastal Aquarium Society (43-44 years),
Suncoast Killifish Society (10-11 years) and all are going strong and have
all outlasted most of the other clubs in the country because we don't
knee-jerk react to any whim of a newcomer who may not even be here in a year
or two. We make it very clear we want to talk and LISTEN to anyone and
everyone but never react like some of you want us to do.

By the way . . . I am not angry . . . I just really don't understand!

I have talked enough . . . you guys have a great day! I am really sorry for
the Midwest but it will be 80 degrees here today!
