Re: [Killietalk] Aquabid vs AKA [was BNL]
Yes I for one agree with Ken , what`s wrong with the use of any medium to buy/sell on . At times in the UK it`s about the only way to do it as by the time the E&FL is here it`s next month. The risk is no worse that using conventional means , still have to get here OK may be more expensive but if its to rich don`t bid.

Imagine if the Brazilians, Argentineans, Japanese, French, Italian, and
other "killie-centric" countries likewise did a "co-op" auction via AB or
whatever cyber venue you choose...
It's possible the thing could fail, but if you look at the expense vs. the
risk/exposure, the gains outweigh the risk (which is nil depending on the
reserve amount)
That's an easy way to get fish in wholesale lots from one end of the earth
to another...the clubs could bid in wholesale lots on each others fish
NTM, from my vantage point, it appears more newcomers are exposed to the
electronic venues than any other....
But I'd bet this represents a risk with regard to incentive to attend
conventions, F&EL list and other semi-archaic cultural dinosaurs that
persist well past their 20th century shelf life...
I say conventions, pubs & such should be for mixing people, personalities &
information...the worlds "market forces" has obviously found a more
efficient means of distributing fish...
What harm could it do to simultaneously post the F&EL on Aquabid?
Shamelessly provide a hefty discount for club members (and/or new club
membership dues) and see what happens...

I used Aquabid before I even heard about AKA. I personally don't even
understand why there is a need for regular (e)mailing of F&EL. If you got
fish to sell, post here a notice in killitak, or post on your website, or
post them in the several potential places on the AKA site (e.g. forum
announcement, registry & classifieds). Anyone care for akaauctions.com?
Yes it's been said that some people don't have access to computers. But
unless you are really remote, there is a library close enough with fast
enough internet service for the needs of killi business. And if you are
really remote, then postal service is slow business to start with.
Sometimes I find good killi stuff on ebay too . . . . .
