Re: [Killietalk] regional vs national shows.
Edd,
I think your observation of the facts is accurate, but I disagree with your
interpretation. Yes, regionals are smaller, but they're supposed to be.
Fewer fish, fewer people, but also a chance for some of the locals to shine.
Maybe a decent fish keeper who would never win at nationals can win a local
show. Helps keep people interested. I don't think I would travel half way
across the country to a local show and expect to see all the "Big Guns." It
is the little shows that keep all us "little people" who can't usually/ever
go to a nationals interested.
As far as hurting the national, Edd, you're also correct. Since there are
fewer people and fewer fish at the regionals, a regional more than a month
before the national isn't going to hurt the national. Unless, of course, you
are implying that the ONLY way the national can survive is if ChiKA brings
all the fish. The national is a big show because of the far away people, not
because of the locals.
And DO try to support the European shows with a few of something. They have
been awesome in support of us.
