[Killietalk] Shipping fish with tranquilizers

   Hi Bob,

    I have used two types of tranquilizers in the past;
A product called Hypno (liquid form) and crushed
    regular aspirin tablets.

Many years ago I was shipping large quantities of
cichlid fry and I successfully used both. However
you must be careful about the dosage as too high
of a concentration of either one will result in death.
I also worked for a tropical fish wholesaler many, many
years ago and we used hypno then also (made by Jungle
    Labs).

I have not had to use any tranquilizer when shipping
killies. Unless you are putting hundreds of fry in a
single large bag, I would not recommend it. Try bag
buddies with a lower fish count in the bags.

Just make sure the fry have not eaten for a day & a
half minimum, keep the temp stable, put them in very
clean water and they should be ok.

                            Best regards,

                            Monty Lehmann
