Re: [Killietalk] Daphnia and chloramine

Several of us here in St Louis keep these
cultures and keep them in our tap water. It
ranges 150 to 175 ppm total hardness and around
250 to 300 TDS. It is moderately hard. We at our
Ink Company make ultra pure water for several of
our inks. 3 to 7,000 gallons a month.

Those of us fish keepers do the de-chlorine
treatment with Thiosulfate - seldom with charcoal
but that is used also. The hardness or TDS isn't
a factor raising Daphnia and the like. I have
used our pure water from the company and our tap
water. I like our tap water because I don't have
to change the Daphnia water as often due to pH
drop. I can make Green Water with our tap water
with a hand full of Splurina flakes and a 100
watt light over the tank along with a start from
the old culture.

Our tap water makes it easier and I like the KISS part.
