Earl,
I would say that 80-120ppm is fairly soft, and non-problematic for many of
the fish in the hobby. Since you mention keeping Nothos, I will pose the
question of why bother using RO at all? I keep Nothos, Austrolebias and
Fundulopanchax with no problems (so far) in 470 ppm water. If you're
keeping Nothos and some softwater species, I would probably set up 2
systems. One soft water and one hard water. Actually intend to do this
myself at some point so I can keep some of the soft water species that I
like. I must be the only WAKO member without an Aphyosemion of some sort.
