Re: [Killietalk] Pump for recirculation system
Earl,
I have a couple of comments.
First, why are you diluting your tap water with DI water and then adding
salt? It seems that that is at least one step too many unless your tap water
contains undesirable ionic materials, like iron or manganese or copper. Your
water is softer than mine and I use it direct for most killies, except lacortei
and similar species.
Second. I received good advice on a pump similar to your needs from John
at Jehmco. It works for me.
Third, for my hard water species (Tanganyikan cichlids and killifish and
pupfish), I add Rift Lake salts to my tap water. You should be able to add
whatever salts you want to your tap water. Or have a reservoir of dolomite or
coral sand in the gravel in the tanks.
