Re: [Killietalk] Shows and new members

The WAKO show is in Nov. and there have been new members at the Dec. meeting
every year for the last 3 years, and I'm sure most years before that as
well. There are always a decent amount of new people at the shows, and most
go home with a pair of fish or two. Even if they don't become members, they
become aware of killies and hopefully are successful with them. I think a
lot of people don't become members right away either. I attended my first
WAKO show and started keeping killies in 2002. I didn't become a WAKO/AKA
member until 2004. The important thing is being friendly and supplying
information and help, especially after the show. If someone new buys fish
from you, absolutely provide contact information. It's important to keep
the new people going after the show, in case one of their fish dies or they
just need help. If they're successful, they will eventually become
members.
