[Killietalk] JAKA

As Associate Editor, and on behalf of the JAKA editorial staff, I would like
to bring you up to date concerning JAKA.

As you are all aware, the last issue you received was the March/April, 2006,
Convention issue. Since that issue was completed we have been working hard
and making a determined effort to try to get the journal up to date. In
order to achieve that most expediently (as well as for other reasons) we
decided to make the next two issues double issues.

The first of those, the May-August double issue has been printed and will go
into the mail system tomorrow.

The second double issue, the Sept.-Dec. issue is being laid out at present
and should go to the printer and be mailed out during January. At that point
we will, essentially, be up to date and will then revert to normal single
issues.

We are now using a new printer located in Memphis, where Marshall Ostrow
lives. This will result in far more efficient service and we will be able to
go from final layout to printing and mailing within a matter of days (as
compared to weeks with the previous printer). The new printer has also
contracted a mailing service in Memphis so the JAKA issues will, literally,
be mailed out to the membership within a couple of days of printing.

Another huge benefit that we will have from the Sept.-Dec. issue on is that
JAKA will be ALL color. And for those of you concerned about costs - I can
tell you that this new service will not cost the AKA any more than
previously.

Finally, I would like to remind you all that we depend primarily on the
membership to provide articles for JAKA. So, please give thought to writing
an article, or articles, for the journal. There is a wealth of knowledge and
experience within the membership and JAKA is the ideal venue for sharing
that knowledge. We need your article contributions to keep the journal going
and to make it a varied, interesting and valuable resource for all our
members.
