Re: [Killietalk] Killietalk Digest, Vol 41, Issue 22 Planaria

You can buy pedigreed planaria from avariety of biological supply houses. Some sell only to businesses and educational institutions so a little looking around will be necessary. I am sorry I don't remeber the the company that sells to individuals but there are a few. Possibly www.aquaticeco.com have them. If so try to buy at least $50 so you don't incur their small order surcharge. I think there are some other places with a bigger selection but you'll just have to do a little research. If you are studying them the larger speies are easier to work with than the common aquarium pest species.Controlling the common species in our aquariums a tightened cleaning and reduced feeding regime is as effective as adding unwanted fish of dubious value regarding using them as biological controls. It is far more effective to reduce the amount of food and increasing sanitation. They are often a transitory problem in any case so that drastic control methods are rarely worth implementing.---

It is best to feed brine shrimp to your fish as soon as they hatch. If you want to enrich them you have to wait for the first molt. The baby bs cannot feed until then.Just wanted to clarify what was being stated in "best to feed bbs as soon as they hatch".BCBarry J.
