Re: [Killietalk] A. Bitaeniatum (Ijebu-Ode) Re: Size matters?

It's the motion of the Ocean that rocks the boat"

We at the MO Aqu. Soc. have fish growing contests
that run for 12 mo. Fry from one species or
another from a single hatch or spawn are passed
out to participants and we bring them back for
judgment every 2 months. There is an enormous
spread in growth rates, color and finage from
fish keeper to fish keeper. The winner has been
scored with the # maintained, size and color, etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Same thing happens to the large fish farms  -
they remove fish for the trade and select the
largest  & best looking fish. the remaining are
left behind to reproduce. This specifically
breeds to target the smaller fish with less color
.
Well put Bill.
