Re: [Killietalk] A. Bitaeniatum (Ijebu-Ode)

One of the first species that I kept back in the early 1970s was bitaeniatum.
I did not get a collection site with the fish that I bought at Barret's
aquarium in Philadelphia. I kept that strain for years and bred and sold literally
hundreds of them. Many of them were identical in coloration with the fighting
males on the cover of ROTOW by Scheel, which is supposed to be from ijebu Ode.
Many others were considerably different in color. Plus the coloration varied
with the environment and mood of the fish. I would venture an opinion that
both fish you have are the same fish. Both sources are well respected killifish
sources.
