Re: [Killietalk] Gardneri eggs on peat

Picking eggs=failure for me so it's natural setup or spawning over peat.
Haven't tried mop in a bag technique yet, but I have only 1 plant spawner
anymore so it's unlikely I'll need to try it. I do NIG Misaje in peat,
incubate 4-6 weeks. Interestingly enough, it seems to depend whether they
spawned in the peat (like a notho) or if you pick eggs and place them on
peat. I've done both and the picked eggs on top of peat incubate much more
quickly, maybe 21 days or so. My recommendation is to just watch their
developement, and hatch when ready. Also keep in mind that some strains and
subspecies tend more towards annualism than others. Nigerianus (and from
what I read Lacustris as well) tend to be a little more annual-like.

On a related note, if anyone has lacustris Lake Ejagham C91 or C89/5 and has
any to pass around, I'm interested. It seems it's not an easy fish to find,
and I'd like to try my luck.
