Re: [Killietalk] java moss
It's easy to grow and will adapt to pretty much any type of water. The
higher the light, the more compact and dense the moss will grow but it
doesn't need a lot of light. If your moss starts to turn transparent, you
need to add some macro fertilizers (N, P, K). As with all plants, high
oxygen and co2 content will please it greatly. Some current is beneficial.
Most mosses don't handle very high temperatures well. Also, it seems to grow
prettier when tied to rock or wood - when left floating it grows stringy in
all directions. 100% cotton thread is good for attaching it to things, as it
will slowly dissolve and eventually leave the moss rooted to whatever you
tied it to.
Here's a nifty little site dedicated to aquatic moss: http://aquamoss.net/ ,
maybe that will help a bit.
