Almost all (maybe all?) Fp. fall into a gray area called semi-annual.
They are generally substrate spawners, tho many of us use sunken mops.
Their eggs incubate well on fairly damp peat. Most do not burn out and
die as fast as Nothos, and most will live several years if not pushed
too hard.
[BTW, the correct abbreviation for Fundulopanchax is Fp., because
Fundulus is the senior genus (i.e., named earlier). It gets to use the
single digit nickname.]
