Re: [Killietalk] RO
Brian et al,
Big John's water is unique, but actually he has an excuse. John lives
in the center of the Adirondack Mountains - the acid rain capital of the
world. If you ever get to John's hometown, you'd understand - remember
concerns over mutated, abnormal frogs a few years ago - well - that's
Tupper Lake and its people. *laugh* Most communities in the Adirondacks
are not finacially very well off or have particularly modern water
filtration technology. Heck, they still use flint & steel to make fire
in Tupper Lake.
Actually, most of the lakes, ponds and rivers throughout the Adirondacks
have very low pH because of emissions from midwest factories. Some
ponds have been recorded in the low 4s and even 3s and nearly all the
native life has been wiped out. There are a number of dead ponds which
used to be great places for trout fishing.
Heh - like I should talk - I live in Malone - the prison capital of NY.
At least the inmates are afraid to escape up here most of the year - its
too cold and since bears raid the trash near the prisons ...

Is your tap water really acidic ? That would be unusual because city
water departments usually ensure that it is alkaline in order to prevent
corrosion of pipes and dissolution of various metals.
