Speaking of rate of production, I find temperature makes a huge difference
in the rate of production. Get the incoming water up to room temp and it
comes out at least 4x as fast with much less waste as compared to input from
the cold tap  (and mine is COLD) alone.

Yes, and it should be better quality (lower TDS).
