Howdy Yall,

Flourish excel at double dose is highly effective at controlling hair algae. 
  HOWEVER. It is also proven effective at controlling valesineria and at 
least Elodea.  Not sure what other species may be effected.  Have not yet 
attempted this double dose hair algae control.  Have Val in most of my 
planted tanks.

One alternative is have a boat load of snails.  i have 100 ramshorns in a 
30gal. NOT A SPECK OF normal algae.

I would also like to add that if your tanks are full of plants they will 
naturally out compete algae IF they are given the opportunity.   Right light 
mix, right micronutrients.  Makes a huge difference.
