Re: [Killietalk] air exchanger

Basically an air exchanger takes air from the outside and exchanges it
for air from the inside, keeping the humidity down. The important thing,
though, is that it passes the air over an air-to-air heat exchanger,
which prevents you from losing a lot of heat from your fishroom. That is
the difference between an air exchanger and a simple extraction fan. You
can set them to keep the humidity at a chosen level.

They are a significant investment - about 50 bags of Notho eggs at
$20/bag. ;-) I don't expect I'll recoup that any time soon.

I think they are a good investment though, in preventing damage caused
by dampness as well as growth of mold. When I built my fish house, I did
not install one right away. The first winter water was running freely
down the glass of the doors and mold started to grow alarmingly soon. I
had the air exchanger installed and it immediately stopped the problem.

Consult with a local air conditioning firm about costs. They may be able
to get you a deal, but it won't be just spare change.
