I wet the pads thoroughly and let the free water drain out without wringing
them dry. If I tilt the container I can get some waste water (full of good
microorganisms, I am told). I drain that out occasionally and add a little fresh
tap water. Not very critical as long as the worms on top are not submerged and
not dried out. I feed every day if harvesting every day. You get out what you
put in. As always, have a backup. I keep 6 shoeboxes going and usually one out
of the six crashes in a month and needs restarting. If that was my only one,
I would be lost. Just like a computer, back it up.
