Re: [Killietalk] Grindel Worm Question
I switched to the scrubby pad method over a year ago and my experience has
been much better with this method than the soil I used previously. The yield is
directly proportional to the amount of trout pellets I feed them. If I do not
feed them for a week or so there are very few visible worms but they recover
in a day or two when fed. I take the top pad to meeting auctions as a starter
for others and replace it with a new pad every month or so. I have six shoe
boxes set up in this manner inside a pillow cover (zipper enclosed) to keep out
the little flies. I use three layers of dampened scrubby pads cut to fill the
entire shoe box. I tried all types of foods and trout chow works best, followed
by kitten chow. Cichlid and other tropical fish pellets do not work in my
experience. The fish don't eat them either.
