[Killietalk] Ostracoda
Hi Killi Folks,
One of my moina cultures is producing a lot of ostracods (I think "seed
shrimp" is the common name for them in North America). Up until recently
I've been cautious to exclude them when I harvest the moina for my fish. The
other day I added a few to an Epiplatys tank - they were swallowed and
promptly spit back out. Do any killies eat these things? I was going to try
them on Nothobranchius next, but now I recall reading somewhere that they
might pose a threat to eggs. I also recall an article by Henri DeBruyn
where he claims to use ostracods in rearing tanks to keep the water clean.
Can anyone confirm or elaborate on either of these?
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
